#36 Slightly Irritated

Ministry is not a 9 to 5 job
And I am not an extension of your arm
My work is not for your “church”
You know more theology than me
And care deeply for church history
So do not say that I am a saint
Because I do your dirty work
It doesn’t matter how many Bible studies you have each week,
If you alienate the people who really need peace
Forgive them for having needs your endless supply of books won’t meet
And having problems outside your office hours
Keep on asking me to do the things you won’t
Hide inside your home praying for bigger buildings
And for members who don’t need so much healing
Call all your meetings ministry
Put on your stole and robes
And call it Gospel
We don’t need more people playing church
Even you used to agree…
